A perfect late summer’s morning with a cool start but soon warming up. A large flock of goldfinch were feeding near the picnic area by the car park soon followed by a sparrowhawk seen flying over Jon’s hide. A pair of red kite and kestrel were seen and heard in the middle and edge respectively of Railway Covert. Also of note were several individual meadow pipit being flushed out of the fields on the eastern side of the transect.
