A cool and foggy start although the sun broke through latterly which caused a few Skylarks to emerge from their slumbers, otherwise a fairly quiet morning.
A kingfisher was flushed from a ditch, a stonechat was seen and heard in the scrub near the car park while the main raptor sighting was a sparrowhawk characteristically flapping and gliding across the fields and also, presumably the same bird, seen later on perched on a post by the path leading to Railway Covert.
